We may believe things like I'll be happy when...
- I lose the weight
- Am not so financially strapped
- My kids makes the team they have been working for
- We are finally able to buy our new house
No matter what it is you are telling yourself, if you are delaying happiness for a certain result--I call these pretty little lies.
They sound so beautiful AND they just won't happen!
Don't get me wrong!
You might buy your dream house, get a rasie and become financially secure, reach your goal weight and your kid may reach the top of the social food chain and those things will NEVER bring happiness. Things or CIRCUMSTANCES simply do not bring happiness.
HAPPINESS is a feeling that can only be generated by our thoughts.
Let me explain-even at your biggest, your weight is simply a number on the scale! Nothing more; nothing less. It's completely neutral until you have a thought about it. You can choose to think "I'm an amazing person" or "I eat like a toddler set lose in the candy store and I'm completely out of control and worthless"
You are just as lovable at any social status, financial status or weight. It's time we start being as kind to ourselves as we are to everyone around us!!
NOTICE...What thoughts do you think about yourself as you pass the mirror? Are these words you'd be okay saying out loud and having someone else overhear? Are these words you'd say outloud to your children? Spouse? Parent? Best Friend? If the answer is "no," why not?!?! Why don't you offer yourself the same kindness you would to a person you love?
It's time for some accountability!!! My challenge is to:
- Notice the thoughts you think about yourself and make a change if they are unkind
- Build yourself up the way you would a good friend
- Be kind!!
Remember: Thoughts are just stories our brains make up to make sense of the world! If It's equally as true to notice your progress as to notice your weaknesses--why not make your strengths your focus?!?!
Doesn't it just feel better to count your blessings and strengths!!
